Rules & Details

All games for the PCC will take place in the Oaklyn Borough hockey court located in Oaklyn-Lions Memorial Park, 327 Landis Ave, Oaklyn, NJ 08107.

Special Rules
Since we’re playing in a converted hockey court, there are some special rules in place!

  1. Games are five-v-five with no goalkeepers.

  2. Instead of goalkeepers there is a crease rule in effect; only one player from the defending team may enter their crease at one time. They may occupy the crease for a maximum of 2 seconds; staying in the crease for longer than 2 seconds will result in a penalty kick.

  3. There is no out-of-bounds unless the ball leaves the field of play. Use of the boards to bounce the ball is allowed.

Read the full list of rules here.

Food, Drink, and Entertainment

The PCC is taking place right next to Oaklyn’s Final Friday street fair on Clinton Ave. Players and spectators will be able to walk up the hill to enjoy craft beer, local food trucks, crafts and artisans, and live music including:

Tonewood Brewing - Common Grounds Coffee - A and A Soft Pretzels - BAke'N BAcoN Food Trucks - Beast Of The Street - Cousins Maine Lobster - FireMan Freddie's BBQ - Phillies Phatties Pizza
and more.

Snacks and refreshments will also be available for purchase on site.

About the Cup

Many years ago, in the days of Zidane and Gerrard, the Oaklyn town hockey court was a center for informal recreation. Kids and adults in town would play pickup soccer games there almost every night, and it was a valuable town resource.

In 2006, a member of council drafted a bizarre ordinance that banned soccer from the court. With all due respect to hockey, there wasn’t nearly as much hockey played in the rink as there was soccer. So the court began to see less and less use. Eventually, it fell into a state of disrepair. Today it is hardly used - the asphalt is torn, the paint is worn, and side boards have fallen off their posts.

Enter Oaklyn United FC. South Jersey’s own minor league soccer club approached the Borough Council with a proposal: repeal the ordinance and will partner with you to rehab the court and raise funds for its eventual replacement with a new, multi-sport court designed for both hockey and futsal.

The court is sacred ground in OUFC lore. It is wear our founding members grew up playing together, just steps from their grass fields where we played together in our youth. And it sits in Lions Park - from whence we derive our mascot.

The Peter Creek Cup (named for the river that runs through Lions Park) is the launch of our fundraising effort. All proceeds from the Cup will go straight to the borrow, earmarked for this project.

The Cup is made possible by the Borough Council, the Oaklyn Department of Public Works, and Oaklyn United FC as well as our friends, family and neighbors who have graciously volunteered their time and resources to get the court into playable shape for the tournament.
